Product description

Card weaving is a technique using cards to create the shed through which a weft passes. It produces a narrow work that can be used as a belt or a strap. Tablet weaving dates back to the 8th century BC in Iron Age Europe

Supplies will be provided and include weaving cards and yarn. We will be using scissors, rubber bands and shuttle. Tension is created by tying the yarn around the weaver and a stationary object.

Gail Karson Bio: Handwork and crafts were part of my early years. Embroidery, knitting and sewing were shared with my family. I was influenced by artists such as Franklin Bates, Frederick Graff and Grace Zay. The group known as the Whiskey Watercolorists gave inspiration to my painting. I am always looking for a unique perspective. I like creating compositions with high contrast, bright colors and highlights. I graduated with a BFA from Bowling Green State University. I belong to Handweavers Guild of America and the Jacksonville Weavers’ Guild. I enjoy my association with many art groups in Jacksonville. I also do commissions of family homes. Hope you enjoy a few of my favorite things with this workshop.
