Winsor & Newton Professional Watercolour Demo- Larry Leach

This two hour session will be concerned with a technical analysis of painting with watercolor. The new Winsor and Newton watercolor papers will be demonstrated with and compared to that of Arches. The academic approach to applying a wash in the manner of Turner, Homer and Sargent will be demonstrated. Each participant will have the opportunity to do a wash on the W/N 140CP Watercolor paper with a Kolinsky series 7 brush. Color characteristics (Granulation/Staining colors) and mixing will be demonstrated and discussed. Winsor Newton has added new products for 2019. There are 8 new professional 5ml & 14ml Cadmium-Free colors and also available in half pans. 8 new designers gouache 14ml Cadmium-Free colors and 5 new professional watercolors, 5ml, 14ml and half pan. These are transparent orange, quinacridone violet, smalt, acqua green and cobalt green deep. These will be shown and demonstrated with.
A sample set will be given to each participant at the end of the session.
Larry Leach- Biography
Larry Leach taught painting and drawing for Louisiana State University during the seventies and eighties and Lamar University in Texas during the nineties. He holds a graduate degree in painting from NSU in Louisiana. Larry's work for the last thirty years has mostly been concerned with the rendering of the landscape in oils. His favorite theme is the first strong light of dawn and the last strong rays of sunset that rake across an unhampered landscape. He is a studio painter and works from memory or watercolour sketches. Selected collections of his work include: The Art Museum of Southeast Texas, Alexandria Museum of Art in Louisiana, President George and Barbara Bush, Brevard Museum of Art in Melbourne, Florida, Four 4'x22' paintings for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, Florida State Department of Health, Florida State Department of Revenue, and the Kaiser Corporation Headquarters in Atlanta, Ga.Leach's work can be also viewed in Several galleries in Florida, Georgia and Texas.
