PORTRAIT PAINTING IN WATERCOLOR PART 1
Join Ted Head in this 2-day weekend workshop. Learn how to paint a portrait, from the foundational composition to the final details. We’ll explore creating skin tones, shadows, and so much more. Class will be fun, low-pressure, and best of all, help you reach your next level. All skill levels welcome.
1/2 sheet 300# cold press watercolor paper is my preference. Watercolor cold press pad or 1/2 sheet of 140# cold press will work .
140# sheet MUST be pre-stretched day before class.
Support board for paper, and a way to put at an angle.
Table easel if you have one – worth the small investment!
Paper towels, sharp pencil, sheet of gray graphite transfer paper, eraser, artist tape, containers for water
Various round brushes from #2 to #8.
Flat 3/4” brush
Not necessary but recommended: Masking fluid and ruling pen (I have pens for $10 available.) Tooth picks if no ruling pen.
Paints: Maroon Perylene, Burnt Sienna, Ultramarine Blue, Cadmium Yellow Light, Phthalo Blue, plus any other colors you have.
Bagged lunch and drinks to put in refrigerator.
