Basic Painting

* Cobalt Blue
* Phalo (Phthalocyanine) Green
* Burnt Sienna (optional)
Brushes - Surfaces - Supplies
* Flats, Filberts, Brights or Rounds in a variety of sizes from #3 to #12 (brushes can be for watercolor, oil, or acrylic)
* Large container for water
* A variety of canvases, panel or stretched (12x14, 8x10, 6x8 for example)
* Small sketch pad
* White Styrofoam or china plates or disposable pallets
* Carry Box or Bag for Supplies
* Cotton Rags
Optional supplies:
Small T-square
Scissors
Masking tape
Charcoal and White chalk
Pallet knife
Acrylic paint will be used in all demonstrations because of their versatility. Artists acrylic paint can be used on a variety of surfaces and techniques, Students may use other mediums if they prefer. The basic supplies will be reviewed the first class so you may return unopened items if necessary.

Small Wonders - Painting Miniatures

Surfaces:
Prepared, primed (with gesso) canvas boards, stretched, canvas pads, watercolor paper or panels as large as 12"x12" or as small as 4"x4", square or rectangular format.
Brushes:
Bring a variety of brushes in rounds or flats, sizes 4,6, 12, etc.
Miscellaneous:
Masking Tape
Charcoal and White Chalk
Pencils
Water container
Rags
Two or more students may share paints. Acrylic paint will be used for demonstrations, but please bring any paint or surfaces you may already have. There will be some paints, brushes and surfaces available for use in class. Pallets, rags and water containers and easels will be provided. Please bring your own if you have them. |

You may bring the paints you usually use. I am however giving you a minimal list of necessary pigments as well as optionals. I paint almost exclusively with Holbein.

An Iron (we can share these, it will not ruin your iron)
An electric frying pan, I have one but we can share if there are more.
A pack of Gulf Wax (from Publix, the kind they use for canning)
A drop cloth, masking tape, paper towels, a water bucket, a ruler
Reference Material… we will all work from our own photos or sketchbooks. I will have extra photos with me you may use. (no greeting cards, calendars or placemats) I will also set up a still life for us to work from if you wish. |

*When choosing a color set, consider what images you may want to work with. Portrait sets generally have more subdued colors than landscape sets. There are also general assorted sets. Look at the colors in each set before deciding what you want.
